Passenger alleges CISF and airline staff treated him like a terrorist
Chandrashekhar Shukla, a businessman from Ghatkopar, was allegedly treated like a "terrorist" at the Mumbai airport yesterday.

His mistake he carried six perfume bottles in his handbag, when liquids in more than 100 ml bottles in a handbag are not permissible on a flight.
Instead of simply asking him to check in his bag, Shukla was held back at the airport last night causing him to miss a flight to Delhi, where he was going to visit his ailing mother-in-law.

Said Shukla, "I reached the airport at 8 pm for my 8.50 pm flight and was carrying a handbag.
At the security check, the CISF officers said I couldn't carry perfume bottles in the handbag and asked me to check in the bag assuring that I would make it for the flight.

But when I went to the baggage counter, the airline staff told me it was closed."
The JetLite staff then accompanied him to the security check and said Shukla could carry the bottles in his handbag.
But, with 20 minutes left for the flight to take off, he was stopped by another airline staffer, who said the flight had taken off and handed him over to the CISF.

"The CISF officials spoke to me as if I were a terrorist. The JetLite staff misled me, first saying I could carry the perfumes in the handbag and then stopping me again," said Shukla.

Shukla claims he has travelled with bottles in his handbag several times, but was always allowed to go.
Breaking rules
The airline disassociated themselves from the incident. "The problem was between the passenger and the CISF. We were not involved.
We told the passenger that we would arrange another flight for him tonight, but he did not budge," said a JetLite spokesperson, requesting anony-mity.

She also said, as per the rules, one is not allowed to carry liquid bottles in the handbag.
