A case has been registered under sections 363 (kidnapping), 397 (attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 376 (rape) and other relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
“The perpetrator came to the victim’s house and inquired about a Gaikwad family and told the parents of the victim that he had given money to the person who used to live at the same place,” said PSI Sachin Kale of Vishrantwadi police station.
He said that since the victim’s parents were having breakfast, they offered him some food, but he refused and only had some water.
“While leaving, he saw the girl and told her parents that he would take her to a nearby shop and get her a pack of biscuits. The parents consented and the two left,” he said.
The accused then took the girl to an isolated place in Wadmukhwadi, raped her, thrashed and injured her, and then fled from the spot.
The girl managed to return to the house, her clothes soaked in blood. The parents rushed her to the hospital and later alerted the police.
“We are trying to find out which family lived at the residence before the victims moved in, and this way reach the culprit,” said Kale.
