Victim struck on her face with blunt object; culprit flees with cash, cell and diamond ring
A management student was assaulted and robbed of cash, a mobile phone and a diamond ring near her college in Tathawade on Tuesday night. Neha Tak studying her Post Graduate Diploma at Indira College had stepped out for some photocopying work when she was struck her on the face with hard object.
Neha is currently undergoing a treatment at private hospital in Chinchwad.Neha's batch mate Ajit Kumar told MiD Day that the streetlights near the college do not function and there have been two instances of
eve teasing in the past, but no complaints have been registered.
The Hinjewadi police, who have been handling the Darshana Tongre murder case, which is yet to be solved even after a year, is investigating the case. However, the police believe that there is no similarity between the cases, except for the fact that Neha was also assaulted at an isolated location, and also the intentions behind both cases were different.
Police Inspector Balasaheb Surve of Hinjewadi police station said, "The incident has traumatised Naha and we have not been able to question her in detail." He added that her statement has been recorded, but further questioning will follow to ascertain what exactly transpired between her and the suspect before the assault.
