A Marathi actress has alleged that a casting director molested her at Shirdi, where he promised he would give her a role in an upcoming TV serial.
The case has been registered with the Borivli police and investigations are on.
According to the police, the casting director has been identified as Sameer Bhosle (30), who was looking for actors for a television programme called ‘Sambhaji’. The victim, who has assayed roles in quite a few Marathi serials, was one of the actresses being considered.
Police Sub-inspector Suresh Salunke of Borivli police station said, “The incident occurred on July 26 in Shirdi in a lounge, where the accused Bhosle allegedly molested the model in her room. We are verifying the stated incidents now and will take proper steps in this case.”
Officials said that in her statement, the model has complained that Bhosle took her to Shirdi to finalise the contract for a role in the show. In Shirdi, they both booked rooms in a hotel. After molesting her in her room, Bhosle allegedly locked her up.
Somehow, she managed to escape and came to Mumbai and registered the case on July 29 with the Borivli police, she stated.
Bhosle has been booked under IPC sections 354A (molestation) and 363 (kidnapping). The accused has not been arrested yet, and police say they are still corroborating statements with the help of call detail records, to check the location of the accused on the day of the incident.
