Damian Torrie (29) a salesman and tennis fan proposed marriage to Russian champion Maria Sharapova during her first Brisbane International match on Tuesday night. And to his surprise, Sharapova said 'yes.'

Torrie told to News.com.au that he first yelled out: "Marry me, Maria Sharapova! I bought a jeep!" The statement had spectators at the Pat Rafter Arena burst into laughing, even as he held a poster that read: which the words, 'Marry me, Maria Sharapova' Torrie explained: "Then, about two games before the end of the match, I walked down to the area where they usually sign autographs and waited.

"Later, she's walking along and was going to walk right past, but I called out and held out my sign and she (autographed) it. Then I said, 'can I have a quick selfie?', and she agreed and said ' thank you for your support'. She was really nice, very kind. It was just so amazing."
