Mary Kom said she was misquoted by a national daily as saying that she was planning to leave her home state following the brutal killing of 18 Indian Army personnel earlier this month by North-East terror outfits.
"Dear friends, with referance to the article on Indian Express as published, I humbly and sincerely declare that my statement about the insurgency situation in Manipur has been misquoted," the London Olympic bronze medallist pugilist said in a statement.
"I have not expressed or commented on any plans to ever shift from Manipur. I belong to Manipur and will always maintain this and i am proud to be an Indian at heart. Jay Hind," Mary Kom said.
"Being the proud brand ambassador of North Easten region, I would never think of stating such and irresponsible comment. It is my duty to live up to the role which the country has entrusted me."
