Gomes' all-important goal came around in the final minute of the first half when he neatly got past a defender and unleashed a shot into the corner of the Bombay Gym goal.

After the break, Bombay Gym came back stronger and even dominated play for an extended period, but somehow the equaliser eluded them.
Mid-way through the second half Farzad Dastoor of Bombay Gym was fouled inside the box, but referee Kshijit Tambe thought otherwise and did not point to the penalty spot much to the disappointment of the Bombay Gym side.
As things began to heat up, BoI's Anurag Surve's was awarded the red card for wasting time, which was a follow up on the yellow he received earlier in the match for a reckless tackle.
