MNC official claims he was beaten up by security guards for standing in a coupe adjacent to the ladies coach

Whether the inception of ladies coaches on Delhi Metro has improved things for women passengers is debatable, but it certainly didn't work well for Vikky Sehgal.

The employee of a Gurgaon-based MNC alleged he was beaten up by some security personnel on Thursday evening for standing in a coach next to the reserved coupe. Five to six other commuters were also reportedly manhandled. The incident occurred at the Guru Dronacharya Metro Station in Gurgaon.

"It was around 7.30 pm when two of my female friends boarded the Metro from HUDA City Centre along with the husband of one of the ladies. I was coordinating with them about things over the phone and I boarded the same train from Sikanderpur. As I entered the train, I went inside the ladies coach, gave them my laptop bag and returned to the coach next to it and stood next to my friend's husband," said Vikky who is a resident of Kalkaji.

"Suddenly five male and two female security persons entered our coach and started thrashing all of us. They also abused us. They weren't listening to anything that we said. My spectacles broke and my nose started to bleed. Some other passengers too were beaten up. Even my friends from the ladies coach came to help us, but the security people continued to harass us. Finally, we got down at the Guru Dronacharya Station and went to the customer care to report the case," Vikky said. Vikky and his friends then boarded another train and got down at the Qutub Metro station.

CISF, the agency that provides security to the Metro, has denied the involvement of any of its officers in the incident.
