PMO officials say PM may be available for inauguration of the Metro services between Sept 17 and Sept 18 as against dates given by CM

Speaking with MiD DAY PMO officials said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be on his Dhaka visit from September 6 to 7 and after that till September 14, he would be busy with local engagements.u00a0"The only free slot in the PM's schedule is September 17 and 18, which is technically his holiday. He will be able to come to Bangalore only on these days," said K Muthukumar, Officer on Special Deputation, PMO.

"After his Dhaka visit, the PM will be in the capital. On September 15 and 16, he will be attending the National Director General of Police's conference and will then be in New York for the UN security council meeting starting September 21 to 26," added Muthukumar. Earlier Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda had said that the tentative date for the Metro inauguration will be September 15. He later retracted and gave a new dateu00a0-- September 25.

Now going by this exclusive information coming from the PMO, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be busy on both dates pointed out by Sadananda. The state government is still waiting for a final date on the PM's availability for the event. The BMRCL is now diverting all its attention towards getting the certification done before September 15.

"The Railway Board officials are already here and by September 9, we will have all clearances and permission.
The commissioner of railway safety, who is already analysing the report sent by Bangalore Metro, will soon after that take up his inspection, which will be completed within three to four days," said BLY Chavan, spokesperson, BMRCL. For now, Bangalore seems to be in a joyous mood and they are only hoping to ride the Metro, soon after the festive season draws to a close.
