"She's going to be OK," a source close to the Jackson family told CNN.

The source, who was at the hospital, said it was unclear why she was hospitalised. However, celebrity news website TMZ, quoting its sources, said it was a suicide attempt and she was taken from her Calabasas family home on a stretcher and conveyed to a nearby hospital.

"We are told the caller reported a possible overdose, although a source connected to the emergency response said there were multiple cuts on one of her wrists," the TMZ report said.

Paris posted messages to her million-plus Twitter followers late evening: "i wonder why tears are salty ?" "yesterday , all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay".

The King of Pop, who died in June 2009, had three children Prince, Paris and Blanket. Paris was recently reported to be bonding with her birth mother, Debbie Rowe, who was married to Jackson from 1996 to 1999.

Paris, along with her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, and her brothers, Prince and Blanket, are suing AEG Live for liability in Michael Jackson's drug overdose death.

Paris and Prince are scheduled to testify in the wrongful death trial later this month. Both teens were questioned in depositions for two days each by AEG lawyers in recent months.
