A special preview of Pernia Qureshi and Imran Abbas' film, 'Jaanisaar', was arranged by mid–day Premiere Nights, a contest that gives its readers an opportunity to watch the film with its star cast. The contest winners interacted with the lead pair and clicked pics with them — a rare sight in Bollywood previews indeed!
Pernia seemed excited to mingle with 30-odd mid–day readers, who were the lucky ones selected to watch the preview of this film on Thursday evening. "I am overwhelmed with such sweet comments from my fans. This is an innovative approach by a publishing house where an upcoming star comes face-to-face with her fans. Thank you mid–day," the designer-actress said.
"I wish I would have been so lucky in my teens, as that time there wasn't any platform where, as a fan, I could reach out and contact my favourite star," she added when we asked if she had participated in any such contest before she attained her celeb status.
Imran, on the other hand, was thoroughly enjoying interacting with the fans. "It's a dream come true for me to receive so much adulation from my Indian fans. I greatly thank mid–day for arranging such an event. I am so moved with the love and adoration showered by them," said Imran.
While speaking to the contestants about what they felt about this event, Jai Doshi, a contest winner, said, "It was on a Sunday afternoon that I just happened to fill up the form and sent it to mid–day. A couple of days later, I got a call from them and I thought it was a prank. But when I received another call, I was overjoyed."

Says Parul Merchant, another reader, "I have been reading mid–day since the 1980s. But when I found out about a new contest called Premiere Nights, I just took a chance and sent an SMS. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a film buff to meet their favourite celebs. You can say this is my reward for being such a loyal reader."

Another winner of this contest, Chetan Malde remarked, "I just decided to try sending answers to the contest questions, something I had tried twice before. I was doubtful about winning it, but it clicked for me this time. The event is fascinating."
'Jaanisaar' is a love saga of a revolutionary courtesan from the 19th century. It is a period drama set 20 years after the first war of Indian independence in 1857. It has been directed by Muzaffar Ali of Umrao Jaan fame.
