ON Day 5 of Week 3 of MiD DAY and Radio One's autorickshaw campaign in association with the traffic police and Regional Transport Office, 37 offenders were booked.

The MiD DAY team was on Fergusson College Road Juna Bazaar for the day.

One driver who refused a fare pleaded: "Mere baal-bache hain." Another said: "Main raat ko dekh nahin sakta." He also justified his refusal by saying that his shift was over.

Here's what we found

Offenders booked: 7

The reporters asked auto drivers to take them to far away destinations like NIBM, Sus Road and Viman Nagar. On hearing Sus Road, many asked for Rs 120, which was not as per the meter.

Place: Deccan Gymkhana, Juna Bazaar
Time: 5.10 PM-6.30 PM
Offenders booked: 4

Traffic was at its peak due to office rush hour. ASI Chandrakant Kadam, PN Sewale and Head Constable Ranjit Ghote were present with the reporters.
At Shaniwarwada, three drivers refused to go to Boat Club Roadu00a0 and they were booked.


Dobaara nahin karna! An auto driver is booked for refusing a short-distance fare from Shaniwarwada to Boat Club road.

Offenders booked: 26

When asked to go to Chandni Chowk, drivers asked for half-return, even thought it was only 8.30 pm. One of them asked for a flat Rs 150.
