It was happy ending for the two minor siblings who went missing from Bandra in Mumbai last week. The duo were located in Surat, and were reunited with their mother on Thursday.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Rihan (7) and Zoya (4) were found at a shelter home in Surat. They were apparently put there by an unidentified man, who found them at the railway station. While there is still no clarity over how the duo landed in Gujarat, cops suspect a human trafficking angle.

Rihan and Zoya went missing from their home in Sant Naneshwar Nagar at 10 am last Friday. Their mother Salma Ansari looked all over the locality for the children, but when they did not return for two days, she approached the police. A case of kidnapping was registered with the Kherwadi police station and multiple police teams had been looking for the children since Sunday.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the moment the kids saw cops walking into the shelter, they ran towards them crying. “They were reunited with their mother on Thursday. She could not control her emotions,” Sujata Patil, Senior Inspector, Kherwadi police station told the paper.

When constant searches in nearby areas did not yield results, cops suspected that the children may have boarded a long-distance train as their home was close to the railway tracks. The search led them to Surat, and eventually to the shelter home.
