Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) poster boy and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi has a penchant for Chitale Bandhu's bakarwadi, reveal party insiders.

They also said that on several occasions Modi had told them he had been longing to scale Parvati hill, which has a strong historical background.

They said due to various security reasons Modi’s wish, so far, has remained unfulfilled. “At every visit to the city, Modiji expresses disappointment for not being able to scale the Parvati hill,” the insiders said.

They also said that Modi never misses out on relishing bakarwadi during his visit to the city and takes along a few packets back to Gujarat.

Modi, who is being looked upon as a strong prime ministerial candidate within BJP circles, was in the city yesterday to deliver a lecture on ‘Good Governance’ at an event organised by party’s city unit to mark late BJP leader Rambhau Mhalgi’s birth anniversary.

Modi was yesterday slated to be given food prepared at Hotel Shreyas on his flight back home. Manager of Hotel Shreyas said the restaurant had prepared kadi-khichadi, shreekhand, capsicum, cabbage and peas sabji for Modi. “The Gujarat Chief Minister, who is a hardcore vegetarian, prefers a simple menu,” the manager said.

One of the insiders also said Modi gets nostalgic whenever he thinks of Sangh’s office located in the city’s Moti Baug area. “Modiji had expressed his willingness to stay at the RSS city headquarters, but again due to security reasons, we cannot fulfil his wish,” the insider said.

He also said that the Gujarat CM insists on speaking in Marathi whenever he is in the city and is an ardent fan of puran poli. Party workers said every time Modi he visits the city, he tries to reach out to each and every part worker, and checks on the worker’s well-being.u00a0
