Elections in the second phase were held in 95 of the 182 constituencies. “Going to cast my vote for Gujarat Elections 2012. Let’s vote and break our own record of the 1st phase!” Modi tweeted before he went to cast his vote.

Modi exercised his franchise at the Nishan High School in the Ranip area of northern Ahmedabad amid much fanfare, flashing a victory sign.

“I thank all the voters. The people of Gujarat will vote the BJP to power for a third consecutive term in this election,” Modi said.

“I am committed to six crore Gujaratis. I live for them. I believe that I am also serving the country through my work in Gujarat. Gujarat is a part of the country and not outside it,” he added.

Voting has been going on since 8 am in the second phase of polling in the Gujarat elections. According to officials, around 60 per cent polling was recorded yesterday.

Sixty-eight percent polling had been recorded in the first phase of voting (December 13). The votes will be counted on December 20. u00a0 u00a0 u00a0 u00a0 u00a0 u00a0 u00a0 u00a0
