Based on a complaint, ACB sleuths laid trap yesterday afternoon at the MSEDCL’s Kharadi office and arrested the suspect Asha Punamchand Pawar.

A complaint was registered in this regard by Satyawan Kolhe (28), an employee of the main contractor, D S Jadhawar. Pawar had demanded a bribe from Jadhawar to pay a visit to a residential area in Kharadi and give a positive report.

“Jadhawar is the electrical contractor with MSEDCL and he submitted applications of five residents seeking new meters for their homes. However, Pawar, who was supposed to conduct an inspection, demanded Rs 5,000 from Jadhavar and refused to clear the file until his demand were met,” said B M kale, deputy superintendent of police (ACB).

He added that following the demand, Jadhavar and Kolhe approached the ACB office and registered the complaint against Pawar.

“As per the information, we advised Kolhe to meet Pawar and offer Rs 3,000 on behalf of Jadhavar. Pawar was nabbed while accepting the cash,” said Kale.u00a0
