St Stanislaus (Bandra) avenged their Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) Div I football final loss against Don Bosco (Matunga) last month by defeating their arch-rivals 2-0 in the semi-finals of the MSSA Ahmed Sailor League cum knockout boys U-16 inter-school hockey tournament at MHAL-Mahindra Stadium in Churchgate yesterday. Don Bosco were the defending champions but faltered against the Bandra outfit. The match started out as expected with both sides gauging each other.

Right at the stroke of half time, Stanislaus scored the first goal through a penalty corner, courtesy Chinmay Chauhan. Bosco tried to force the issue but could not get their chance. Stanislaus put the final nail in the coffin in the 34th minute, when captain Marven Pereira brilliantly found Aiyan Ansari, who slotted it home. Marven, who also played a pivotal role in the first goal, was captain of the football side that lost earlier.

"Today was the best game we've played so far. We have taken revenge. We know the Bosco players really well so we knew what we had to do. I am confident of winning the tournament. We have lots of experience running in the side," Marven told mid-day. In the other semi-final, Our Lady of Dolours (Marine Lines) defeated Children's Academy (Malad) 6-5 in the tie-breaker after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.
