The pool ‘A’ match was far from being a boring goalless draw though with chances aplenty being wasted by both sides.

Campion started well and striker Johann Duckworth had a chance to break the deadlock, but his header flew over.

Navy Children then missed out when Rahul Sethi Chand received a defence-splitting pass from Harsh Vardhan, but his weak shot was parried away by ’keeper Siddhesh Kataria. Campion’s Pranav Bongirwar then came closest to scoring in the dying minutes when he hit the inside of the post. Campion coach Wilfred Alva rued the mucky ground conditions. “We are a team that plays well on a good ground, but today there was muck all over,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a pool ‘B’ match, St Francis D’Assisi (Borivli) beat St Mary’s ICSE 3-0 with Dhiran Patni, Harsh Dhekale, Johnson Mathews scoring a goal each for the Borivli outfit.
