Mumbai Crime: Schoolboy in scout uniform strips teen, ties him to loo window
The Govandi police are looking for a schoolboy who stripped and tied another student, a 13-year-old, to the window of the boys' toilet at a reputed school in Chembur on Saturday. The victim's parents have lodged a complaint against the unknown boy. As per the victim's statement, the boy was wearing a scout uniform and a metal bangle.
The Std VI student had gone to school on Saturday with his parents for a PTA meeting. He told his mother that he was going to the bathroom and would be back soon. But he didn't return even after 20 minutes. His mother started looking for him in the corridor. Finally, she went towards the bathroom.
"She heard noises when she approached the bathroom. When she called out to her son, the noises rose. Worried, she started looking for the peon or another boy to go in and check," said an officer, adding, "A boy went inside and found the teenager tied to the window without his pants; a tie had been put around his mouth. The mother then called school officials."
The victim was so scared that he couldn't talk for a couple of hours and kept shivering and crying. His parents told the school that they wanted to know who the culprit was. They later approached the Govandi police.
"According to his statement, when he was urinating, a boy in a scouts uniform took him inside a stall and bolted the door. He then removed the victim's pants. Just then, the teen's mother came looking for him. The accused tied him to the window with a tie and jumped out," said another officer.
No sexual assault
A case has been filed under IPC section 342 (wrongful confinement). "Medical examination has revealed that there was no sexual assault on the boy," said another officer. "When the incident took place, boys from Std X were in their scout uniforms. We will zero in on the accused based on the boy's inputs," said Shahaji Umap, DCP (zone VI).
The Child Welfare Committee has summoned the principal. "We've taken serious cognisance of this and asked school administration and the police to inform about the steps taken," said a member.
