Mumbai: 11-yr-old falls to death trying to rescue a bird
Cops claim Farhan Dalal, an avid bird lover, fell from the balcony of his third floor residence trying to save an injured bird; an ADR has been filed at Juhu police station
At times, good intentions do end up producing heartbreaking outcomes. In a tragic incident, 11-year-old Farhan Dalal lost his life after slipping from the balcony of his third floor residence at Hatkesh society, Juhu. The incident occurred around 3 pm on Wednesday.

Requesting anonymity, an investigating officer from Juhu police station claimed it appears that the boy — an avid bird lover — lost his balance while trying to reach out to an injured bird. He added that it was the building’s watchman who found Farhan lying in a pool of blood and informed his parents.
It was they who rushed the boy to the nearby Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital for treatment. After inspecting his injuries and administering primary treatment, doctors asked the Dalals to shift Farhan to a multi-specialty hospital for further treatment due to the grievous nature of his injuries.
The boy was immediately shifted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute, Andheri. Despite doctors managing to stabilise his blood supply, Farhan breathed his last at 9 pm. His body was later sent to Cooper hospital for post-mortem.
The family claimed the body last morning following which the final rites were preformed at the Juhu crematorium. “We don’t know how it happened. He loved birds. Hence, the police are saying that he was reaching out to rescue an injured bird when he fell from the balcony. We can’t believe that he’s gone,” said Farhan’s father Nirav Dalal.
“Prima facie investigation has revealed that the boy accidentally fell from the balcony after losing his balance. For now, we have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case. Further investigation is on,” said Police Inspector (Crime) Pandit Thakre from Juhu police station.
