On the complaint of Sulakshana Shinde (45), a case was registered and Imran Altaf Shaikh (32) was arrested, while his associate identified as Rocky, is absconding.

The windshields and rear view mirrors of the rickshaws were broken. The crime was committed in a space where a criminal, Pradeep Shinde, allows illegal parking. He has been externed from the area. Shaikh also allows illegal parking just adjacent to his spot and this created differences between the groups. Each of them allows parking for Rs 50 per 24 hours.

Both Shinde and Shaikh have criminal records. Shinde had attacked a police constable with a knife recently. From the past month, his mother Sulakshana Shinde has been handling the parking. Police said when she learnt that the auto rickshaws were being damaged, she went to the spot at 3.30 am, but was beaten up by the accused.

“Around 40 autos were damaged. We have registered a case under IPC Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506(2) (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), and 34 (common intention). We have arrested one accused,” said Avinash Sawant, Senior PI, Dindoshi police station.
