Continuing their drive against the illegal dumping of debris at the Aarey Milk Colony, the Aarey CEO office caught two trucks that were illegally dumping debris on a plot in possession of the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), located adjacent to the Jogeshwari Vikroli Link Road (JVLR). The dumper mafia responsible for it threatened the guard who tried to stop them from dumping debris.

The operation took place in the wee hours of Saturday. While three of the five dumpers that had come to dump the debris at the time fled, two trucks have been taken to the Aarey Police station and an FIR has been registered.


The FIR was registered under IPC sections 447 (tresspass), 353 (assault to deter public servant), 427 (mischief), 323(causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) against the truck owners.

Speaking to mid-day Aarey CEO Gajanan Raut said, “On wee hours of Saturday, we received a tip-off informing us about illegal dumping of debris on the plot adjacent to JVLR. The area is in our jurisdiction and hence, we immediately reached the spot and with the help of Aarey police station took action against the dumpers responsible for the same. The trucks found dumping the debris have been brought to the police station and an FIR has been registered.”

Threatened guard
Speaking to mid-day, Aarey security officer VR Pawar said, “Early Saturday morning, we received a call from our sources regarding around five trucks, that had come to dump debris on the plot adjacent to JVLR. When we reached the spot, three trucks that were about to dump their debris ran away after seeing the police van. Our guard, who tried to stop the trucks from dumping debris was threatened by the people associated with the dumpers.”

An official from Aarey Police station said, “We have registered an FIR and the investigations are on.” The plot where the dumping was taking place comes under the jurisdiction of Aarey Milk Colony, and at present is in MMRC’s possession. This is near the location where RMC Cement plants were active. Some of them have already been shut.
