A 29-year-old model has registered a rape and cheating complaint against TV actor Arman Tahil, claiming he had sex with her after making false promises of marriage.

35-year-old Tahil has worked in a few TV shows, while the complainant is a model and also works with an event management firm. She moved to Mumbai from Madhya Pradesh in 2011, and met Tahil at the ISKCON temple in Juhu in 2013. They kept meeting each other at parties and fell in love within months. In March 2013, Tahil allegedly told her he loved her and persuaded her to go home with him, after which they had sex. “In March 2013, he raped me and told me he loved only me and wanted to marry me. He said he would talk to his parents about it, but he never did,” said the victim.

In 2015, Tahil asked her to move into his house at Seven Bungalows, and that is when his behaviour changed completely. The woman told the Versova police that Tahil claimed his career was suffering and he was strapped for cash. He began demanding money from her under different pretexts, such as paying the rent. “Till now I have given Tahil lakhs of rupees. He was a sweet talker and I loved him. I did not mind giving him money but it became a habit,” said the woman.

She told the cops that Tahil also began fighting with her every day and that he was also involved with other women. All the while, he kept having sex with her, claiming he would marry her. “Tahil raped the complainant several times over the past ten months at his Seven Bungalows house while promising that he would marry her,” said an officer from Versova police station.

Finally, on June 8, Tahil left the house and didn’t return. The woman tried to contact him, but he refused to return or marry her. She filed a complaint against him the very same day.

“We have registered the complaint following the woman’s statement. Investigations are on,” said Senior Inspector KV Kale from Versova police station. Tahil has been booked under Sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
