With both countries 69th independence day around the corner and the Kashmir situation, common citizens plan Gandhi-Edhi March

As the month of August draws near, activists and common citizens in Mumbai gathered at the Sarvodaya Mandal, Nana Chowk to plan a peace march on August 13.

Called the Gandhi-Edhi March, the march will simultaneously happen in Mumbai and Karachi to appeal for peace between the two countries who have shared a tumultuous relationship.
Members of the Observer Research Foundation Mumbai, the Bombay Sarvoday Mandal, Anjuman-I-Islam and Vidyarthi Bharathi have come together to organize the largest peaceful protest for good neighbourly relations between India and Pakistan in India’s history.
"Both Mahatma Gandhi and Edhi Sahab devoted their lives to serving humanity without discrimination and promoting peace. The campaign is an opportunity to take the work and philosophy from two of the great stalwarts from either side of the border and put it into action," said Sudheendra Kulkarni, Chairman of the Observer Research Foundation Mumbai.
The present situation in Kashmir has been the biggest trigger for this march. Feroze Mithiborwala, Convenor ofBharat Bachao Andolan said, "There are many innocent people suffering because of the relationship between the two countries. Diplomacy has caused more friction. But there are many friends there and the common man wants peace. This is the message this march seeks to convey."
