The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is going to construct a foot-over bridge (FOB) connecting Curry Road railway station to N M Joshi Marg. The 12-metre long bridge project was announced by Mumbai Mayor Snehal Ambekar on Thursday.

Curry Road station sees tremendous footfall in peak hours since a large number of people travel to the business district of Parel, Lower Parel, Elphinstone Road, Worli, etc. Currently, people travelling on the central line trains have to come go all round the station to access N M Joshi Marg. A bridge has been planned considering there is no bridge which connects the southern end of the station to the road.

Mayor Ambekar was in the area for the 'bhoomipujan' of a footpath repair work on Thursday. Speaking to locals at the time, she said that the BMC and Railways are working in tandem for this project and the BMC has already paid an advance to the latter. According to a statement released by the BMC, work will start in March.
