According to an FIR (copy available with SMD) on March 7, officials of ACB arrested constable Vikas Munde for further demanding Rs 1,000 bribe from a scrap dealer Sonu Gupta alias Bachchi. Listening in to a telephone conversation between Gupta, Munde and informer Dharamraj Yadav alias Taklu, ACB officials came to know that senior inspector Siddharth Lalu Wagh, PSI Vishal Padir, constables Mahale, Bhangre, Bhere and Shinde had taken bribes from the Gupta in the past. Now Padir was threatening to frame Gupta in a theft case if he failed to pay Rs 1,00,000.

On February 28, Padir allegedly beat up Gupta in the police station and took Rs 15,000 from him. After that he kept demanding the remaining Rs 80,000. Gupta took a loan from India Infoline Finance Limited Company and paid the money. Finally, he approached ACB officials. It was then that superintendent of police (SP) Sandip Karnik and inspector Ujwal Vaidya set a trap and arrested Munde. u00a0Speaking to SMD Inspector Ujwal Arun Vaidya, ACB said, “Once we arrest Taklu, we will lay our hands on Padir.”u00a0
