Mumbai: Cops probing if lawyer also knocked down pedestrian in Colaba
A taxi on the Freeway. A biker in Govandi. These have been the victims of corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar’s car. Police now suspect that the 35-year-old also knocked down a pedestrian in Colaba a fortnight before the deadly Freeway accident on June 9 in which her Audi dashed into a taxi, killing two people.

mid-day had reported earlier that a couple of days before the Freeway horror, Gadkar had knocked down two men on a bike in Govandi. Both of them were security guards with the BARC and her car had collided with their bike from behind, throwing them off the two-wheeler.
All of them were taken to Shatabdi Hospital and Gadkar had pleaded with T R Betkar, one of the guards, to not report the matter to the cops. “Now we have come to know that she had knocked down one person in Colaba, but nothing has been reported with the Colaba police.

Police are still trying to glean more details about the Colaba accident and may question Gadkar once again. They have even questioned some shopkeepers at Colaba causeway, but did not find any clues.
“We are trying to find if any incident had taken place in Colaba and if Janhavi had knocked down a person there also. But presently we don’t have any information and are working on it,” said a senior police officer, on condition of anonymity.
Reliance CFO’s statement recorded
RCF police have recorded the statement of Alok Agarwal, chief financial officer, Reliance Industries, who was the last person to have had drinks with Janhavi Gadkar at The Irish House Pub in Fort.
Police were tight-lipped about the statement and refused to share any details. “We have just corroborated his statement with Janhavi’s,” said senior officials. Agarwal has told the police that he didn’t know Gadkar was already drunk.
