Malwani resident Yunis Khan entered the minor’s residence uninvited and raped her; he made the survivor’s elder sister (11) leave the house by lying that their parents were expecting her at local grocery store
The Malwani police arrested a 48-year-old man for raping a 10-year-old girl on Saturday night. The incident occurred at the minor’s residence, when her parents had gone out grocery shopping. Cops said the accused, Yunis Khan, is a small-time estate agent in Malwani area and lives next door to the survivor.
According to the police officials, Khan entered the minor’s residence uninvited when her parents had gone out for grocery shopping. She was at home, studying, with her elder sister (11). A police official said, “He entered the house around 8 pm and told the elder sister that their parents were expecting her at the local grocery shop.
Once the older girl left the residence, Khan bolted the door from inside and forced himself on the minor.” When the survivor’s parents and elder sister reached home, they found the girl bruised and in a state of shock. Upon inquiring, the older girl told them that Khan had visited their residence before she left to meet them.
The parents immediately went to Khan’s residence with other neighbours and assaulted him before handing him over to the police. A case was registered against Khan under Section 376 of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. He was produced in the holiday court yesterday and has been remanded in police custody till tomorrow.
