Mumbai crime: Cops arrest three with Rs 1.5 lakh of fake currency

The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested three persons, and seized around Rs 1.5 lakh of fake currency.

The three accused, Bakthar Hudda, Mohammad Jamma and Mohammad Shaikh, were caught outside Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivli (East).

According to the police, the accused had procured the fake currency from Pakistan, via Bangladesh and West Bengal. For using the currency in the country, they would get between 10 and 15 per cent commission.

An ATS official from Nagpada unit said, “They got the currency at 50 per cent rates. For every R10 that they gave, they would get R20 of the fake currency in return to use in the country.”
