The Kasturba Marg Police arrested a 31-year-old dentist on Wednesday for raping a 15-year-old girl. According to the police, the accused took the girl to a lodge in Gorai on the pretext of throwing a party for her a month ago.
He took her to the lodge, tried to get physical with her and raped her when she objected. The accused, identified as Yogendra Sukla (31), is a resident of Mira Road and runs Sadguru Clinic on Carter Road number 4 in Borivli (East).

The survivor’s sister worked as a compounder at the clinic and had introduced him to her family. Cops say that Sukla was close to the survivor’s family and visited them two to three times a week. He also helped them in times of financial difficulty. The survivor trusted Sukla when he told her that he would like to throw her a party in Gorai.
They took a ferry there, and after spending some time at the beach, he took her to the lodge where he raped her. Sukla then threatened the girl at knifepoint and said he would kill her and her sister if she spoke about the incident. This was not the end of the girl’s ordeal.
Sukla attempted to force himself on her more than once on his visits to her house, but she managed to fend him off. On Wednesday, the girl finally gathered the courage to speak about the rape and narrated the incident to her uncle in Kandivli, whose family she was visiting. Her uncle immediately took her to the police and Sukla was arrested the same day.
A senior police officer from Kasturba police station said, “We arrested Sukla under Sections 376 (Rape) and 506 (Criminal intimidation) of the IPC and under the POCSO Act.” Sukla was remanded to police custody till December 16, added the cops.
