Cash stolen from car

Diwali celebrations have gone for a toss for this businessman and his employees as Rs 5 lakh cash was stolen from his vehicle parked outside a temple. He was on his way to Mulund when he decided to visit the Balrajeshwar Temple on LBS Road. The cash was to be distributed among the employees. The police has lodged an FIR.

“My father and I were at the temple. Our mistake was that we left the bag in the car. Usually the bag that we carry to office has around R5,000, but this time it was Rs 5 lakh. When we returned, a window was broken and the bag missing,” said the victim, who did not wish to be identified.

On being informed, police conducted a panchnama and registered a case . Though there were no CCTV cameras where the car was parked, there were some in the nearby areas. The police has been scanning the footage to get clues.

“The victim was carrying the cash to his office to be distributed among his employees. A case under sections 379 and 427 of IPC has been registered and further investigation is on,” said a police officer from Mulund police station.
