Police said the four accused — Shekhar Appadurai Shetty (42) resident of Pune, Aiyappa Subramaniam Shettiar (41), Virar resident, Murgan Shetty (40) from Palghar — have been committing break-ins since last 20 years, while the fourth accused, Rajkumar Pandey (22), who is from Raigad had joined them two months ago.

An officer from Shivaji Park police station said, “Shekhar, Shettiar and Murgan are already in contact with Russian call girls in Mumbai and Pune. They have been in the business since last 20 years. The fourth accused in the case, Rajkumar joined the group with the lure of foreign call girls.”

All the three masterminds are married and have children. In order to meet the call girls’ demands, they began committing thefts. The accused would visit Mumbai, commit house break-ins and spend their loot on the call girls. “When they got good money from the theft, the accused planned trips to Lonavala with the girls or else they would return after spending one night with them,” the officer added.

All four have been booked under sections 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in), 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night) and 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc) of the Indian Penal Code and have been remanded in judicial custody.
