Mumbai Crime: Malwani man held for raping minor daughter
The Malwani police have arrested a 50-year-old man, who has been accused by his 14-year-old daughter of raping her over three years.
According to the complainant, the accused first raped her on September 20, 2012, when she was alone at home. This soon became routine, and he’d threaten to kill her and her mother if she squealed.
When it got too much for her to bear, she confided in her school teacher, who promptly took her to the police station. Confirming the arrest, senior police inspector Milind Khetle, said that the accused’s last rape attempt was during Ganesh Chaturthi.
He has been booked under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO (Prote-ction of Children against Sexual Offences Act), and is in police custody.
According to the police, the survivor is a resident of Malwani and a student of class eight at a Marathi medium school. She has three siblings. Her father earned his living as a labourer.
Following the complaint, the teenager was sent to Nagpada hospital for a medical check-up.
