The Mumbai Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl from Dindoshi, Goregaon area in Mumbai on Thursday evening.

The accused has been identified as Suraj aka Surya Mandal, who stays nearby and is known to the family. The survivor used to go to his house to play with him.
The parents of the survivor had gone for some work on Thursday night when the crime took place. When the accused Suraj realised that the girl is all alone at her home, he went there and offered her few toys and chocolates. Later, he took her to his house and raped her.
The girl returned home bleeding profusely. She narrated the entire ordeal after being prodded by her mother. By that time, the crowd had gathered around her house including Suraj. The girl pointed out to Suraj, standing in the crowd as her perpetrator.
The crowd beat him up before handing him over to Dindoshi police.
"It is case of rape of a small girl. We have sent both accused and the victim to a hospital. We are waiting for reports and the inquiry is underway," L. T. Wahanmane on the Mumbai Police said.
The police have registered a case under section 376 and have sent the victim to the hospital for further assessment. Later, a medical test of the victim was conducted and the rape was confirmed.
The police have booked Suraj under relevant sections of IPC and POSCOA.
