In an absolutely twisted tale, a 53-year-old man was arrested by the Ambernath police for blackmailing and raping his daughter-in-law’s sister. The man had been sexually assaulting the girl for over eight months before she mustered the courage to complain to the police as per reports by the Times of India.

The woman told the police that the sexual abuse started after the man, his sister’s father-in-law showed her objectionable pictures of her sister while she was being intimate with his son. He also told her that if she did not comply with his demands, he would ruin her sister’s marriage and circulated her photographs on social media.  Fearing for her sister’s safety, the woman complied with the man’s demands to have a physical relationship with him on several occasions over the last eight months.

As per the police, the woman decided to approach the police for help when the man took obscene pictures of her as well and sent it to her relatives. She added, that by sending those pictures, he was hoping to malign her reputation within the family and wanted her relatives to disown her.

As per Manoj Chavan, assistant inspector at the Ambernath police station, "Acting on the survivor's complaint we have arrested the accused and have seized his cellphone." The man has been booked on charges of rape and molestation. He has also been booked under certain sections of the Information Technology Act. He has been remanded to custody till November 24th
