In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old housewife committed suicide after strangling her six-year-old daughter. According to sources, the incident occurred at Charkop Sahyadri Nagar where Prerna Sudhir Katakdaund committed suicide by hanging herself from the fan after strangling her 6-year-old daughter Amruta.

The bodies were spotted by Prerna’s sister-in-law, who lives in the next building, at 4 pm.
Prerna’s husband is employed with the BMC and was at work. There was also financial trouble at home and the couple quarreled regularly. However, the reason behind the murder-suicide is still unclear.
For the time being, a murder case has been registered against the mother, said an officer from Charkop police station.
