A 45 year-old tuition teacher has been arrested by the Charkop police for allegedly molesting his 14-year-old student every day for nearly two months. The accused would keep the student back on the pretext of extra classes and molest her, saying she was weak in academics and he would help her get a distinction.
He would touch her private parts and claim that doing so would help “open her mind”. The accused Ravi (name changed) runs tuition classes in Kandivli (W) in an area under the jurisdiction of Charkop police station. The incident came to light after the girl stopped attending the tuition classes.

The survivor was crying inside her room on Wednesday when her mother heard her and asked what had happened. The girl hesitated initially but later opened up and said that Ravi had been molesting her every day since September.
She said Ravi would let the rest of the students go and keep her back for two hours for “extra classes”, during which he would molest her and touch her private parts. The shocked mother informed her husband, who took the girl to the Charkop police station to register a complaint.
'Academic help'
In her statement to the Charkop Police, the Std X student said, “My tuition sir would ask me to stay back inside the class after letting all the students go. He would tell me that I was weak in academics and he had a special treatment for me which would open up my mind and help me score enough marks to get a distinction in the upcoming semester.”
“Throughout September and October, he molested me and touched my private parts every day. When I asked him to stop, he would threaten me and say I would fail if I tried to stop what he was doing,” she added.
On the basis of her statement, the Charkop police registered an FIR on Wednesday and arrested the tuition teacher yesterday.
He has been booked under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). He was produced before the sessions court in Dindoshi yesterday and remanded in police custody till Saturday. An official from the Charkop police said they are investigating whether the teacher had molested any of his other students as well.
