Mumbai: Customs officers caught six cases of gold smuggling involving Rs 1.42 crore with a total of 5.6 kilogram of gold.
They intercepted two passengers, a mother-daughter duo, and recovered six crude gold bangles by each of them.

The two passengers Hamida Esmail Zatkal and Ayesha Ismail Zatkal arrived from Bangkok by flight TG 317 and were wearing bangles hidden under their full sleeve dresses.
The bangles weighing 1212 grams were valued at Rs 30,18,534.

In the second case, a passenger named Mir Kamilhasan arrived from Bangkok by flight AI 331 and was carrying gold in the undergarment weighing 600 grams, valued at Rs 15,26,967.
In the third case, Thailand nationals Sitthichai Udomsuk and Si Udomsuk arrived from Bangkok by AI 331 were caught with 1308 grams of two crude gold chains and three gold kadas worth Rs 33,28,788.
In the fourth case, passenger Nayeem Abbas arrived from Bangkok by flight PG 733 and had concealed four gold pieces inside his kneecap and undergarment weighing 512 grams and valued at Rs 13,03,012.
In the fifth case, Customs officials recovered one kilogram gold bar inside the toilet of Indigo flight 6E 062 which arrived from Dubai.
In the last case, Lathigara Jitendra Karsandas arrived from Nairobi by KQ 202 and had concealed two gold kadas inside the trouser, weighing 965 grams and valued at Rs 25,44,945.
