The city — sliced, diced and served with a dash of sauce

Mumbai Diary: Saturday Dossier

Drama is my name
Actress Tamannaah Bhatia was on a roll when it came to sending shutterbugs into a tizzy at an event on Friday.

Her antics left all assembled in splits, and unsure of what was to follow, including co-star, Ranveer Singh who did a mock photo shoot.

Singh, known for his impromptu quirks, seems to have found his match. He wasn’t spared.

Mumbai, find your barrel
As a toast to mark its 150 year-old legacy, the Jack Daniel’s distillery has been a hosting a global barrel hunt, and Mumbai is on their list. Starting from 9 am, regular clues and updates will be posted on their Facebook page today, which JD loyalists can use to unlock where the secret goodie-filled barrel(s) have been hidden in this urban jungle.

Till now, only 72 of the 150 barrels hidden across the world have been revealed, with the rest still remaining to be unearthed. Participants are required to be citizens of India, and above the age of 25 — a crucial point to remember, as all potential winners will be required to show a valid proof of eligibility on winning. For those who manage to find the elusive barrel(s)…party at your place?

And now, it’s PV Sindhu
Last night, ace shuttler 21-year-old PV Sindhu bagged India’s silver medal after a valiant, gutsy fight against top seeded Spaniard Carolina Marin. However, after her outstanding entry into the finals at Rio, the Twitter universe was agog with all kinds of rib-tickling and amusing tweets.

Sample a few:
# Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter: #PVSindhu aap “khaali haath” nahein, medal leke wapas aa rahein hain .. aur hum aapke saath ‘selfie’ nikalne chahate hain !!

# Sehwag retweets Amitabh’s message and adds:Bilkul, isliye Shobha Na De aise kaam nahi karne chahiye?

Chang is on a mission
While most of our celebrity junta prefer to do lip-service on their ‘Let’s Clean Mumbai’ morchas that are nothing but photo-ops, here is one famous face who isn’t afraid to get down and dirty for a cause.

Meiyang Chang posted this photo of himself at Versova beach’s clean-up drive, and tweeted: ‘Now that the day of patriotic highfives is over, don’t forget there’s still much to do to make India a greater nation.’ We agree, Chang.

If the dress fits
Trials and model fitting sessions for an upcoming fashion week in the city seem to be in full swing.

Ta ta for Tatami
We hear that Japanese restaurant and sake bar Tatami, which had replaced Kofuku earlier this year, has shuttered. Its landlord, we hear, wishes to sell the space that Tatami occupied.

However, co-owner Neha Premjee tells us not all is lost — Tatami will commence service again in about a week, but this time as a delivery kitchen. This means you can now order your sushi and eat it too!
