Pitt-Angeli yoga
And this, because sometimes we see black humour in break-ups. When those break-ups involve Hollywood, you agree it is fodder for gossip and some giddy-headed humour.

So, with the entertainment world in overdrive about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce, trust the wits to put a desi twist to the glam world’s talking point.

The current joke doing the rounds is: After hearing of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s imminent divorce, Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali is introducing a new anti-divorce herbal medicine. The yogi is calling it Pitt-Angeli. Breathe, we say.

There’s a kind of hush
The Controversial Club of India or the Contentious Club of India has become the Quiet Club of India. To give it its real name, The Cricket Club of India (CCI) is gearing for its 82nd Annual General Meet (AGM) and elections on Friday and Saturday. The Code of Conduct for the club came into effect since yesterday.

This means no campaigning in the SoBo club premises. A hush has fallen, after the whirl off late. Premises may be off limits, but there have been a couple of last-minute parties thrown to woo the electorate by supporters of candidates. Like the cricket commentators say, we say too, it’s all happenin’ at the CCI.

Your library dost is here
The newly remodelled American Library, re-christened as Dosti House reopened last evening at BKC. American Libraries and Spaces across the world come with a legacy of providing modern facility for people-to-people engagement.

Taking this idea forward, the new Dosti House at the US Consulate hopes to cultivate this spanking new space into an engaging and collegial hotbed for ideas and innovations. More power to reading spaces in the city!

All about Alkazi
This week is dedicated to theatre doyen Ebrahim Alkazi, on whom a retrospective is currently on at the National Gallery of Modern Art. His daughter Amal Allana, the former chairperson of the National School of Drama, is in town for curated walkthroughs of the exhibition and also launch a book as a tribute to Alkazi.

Ebrahim Alkazi Directing Art: The Making of a Modern Indian Art World, edited by noted critic Parul Dave-Mukherji, will be launched this evening at Saffronart’s stately exhibition space in Prabhadevi by none other than artist Akbar Padamsee.

“While the exhibition talks about Alkazi’s life in theatre, this book talks about his life in art, thus bringing out different sides to him. In the coming years, we plan to publish five or six more volumes,” says Allana. We can’t think of a better way to usher in Alkazi’s 91st birthday next month.

A T-shirt speaks a 1,000 words
This post by Lisa Ray on her official account caught the eye recently.

She sported this tee moments before the launch of her perfume brand in Toronto. In these times of war and blazing guns, a simple message like this resonates. Timely strategy, Lisa.

Will you manage the balancing act?
