Mumbai: Fire erupted at Naya Nagar slum on the Sion-Mahim link road in Mumbai today in which some hutments suffered minor damage, officials said. No one was reported hurt or killed in the mishap, they said.

The blaze occurred at a slum located next to Raheja hospital on S L Raheja road in Mahim. About half-a-dozen hutments came in contact with the flames, a fire control room official said. However, the fire did not spread to neighbouring areas and was confined to the slum.

The control room got a call at around 11 AM about the blaze following which four fire engines and water tankers were immediately rushed to the site.

It took the fire brigade about half hour to douse the fire. Fire engines are still on the spot and cooling operations are underway.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, the official said.
