If you're anything like us, you've mourned the lack of decent eating options off Linking Road. They're either affordable but not worth it, or they're too expensive.

Into this polarised world comes a new eatery, The Conical Twist, which serves everyone's favourite junk food, pizza, in a convenient, to-go fashion -- cones.

While pizza cones are not a novel concept, we like that The Conical Twist brings this convenience to a place where people have no time to eat because they are either shopping or partying late into the night.

Options galore
The menu, at the moment, isn't extensive. It offers 11 pizza cones, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. There is also a Make Your Cone section, which allows you to pick your sauce and choose four of the many toppings, which include mushrooms, baby corn, pepper chicken and paneer. Service is quick -- we have our cones, finger-burning hot, in our hands within a matter of minutes.

Mac And Cheese

From the vegetarian cones, we pick the Mac and Cheese (Rs 150), which comes with macaroni and black olives, all doused in a creamy cheese sauce (you also have the option of swapping this with pesto sauce). Although comforting enough to make for a post-drinking midnight snack, this filling could have done with more sharpness from the cheddar. In its current version, it ends up coming close but missing the mark.

Pesto pizzazz
We are partial to the two non-vegetarian cones we try. The Chicken Supreme (Rs 200) is a decadent mix of chicken sausage, salami, mozzarella, cheddar and barbecue sauce. The combination is spot-on -- the meat is succulent, and the piquant, smoky sauce is offset by the creaminess from the cheese. This would be just the kind of grub we would need to cure a nasty hangover.
The Pesto Chicken (Rs 180), which we make using the DIY option, is the winner for the night. A rich basil pesto coats cubes of lightly spiced Fiery Chicken, and the addition of black olives and mushrooms makes new flavours burst in our mouth with every bite. In all three versions we try, the cones are baked to perfection -- toasted on the outside, and chewy in the middle.
The next time you're around Linking Road, whether it's for a spot of shopping or a night of pub-hopping into the wee hours, get your fix of affordable pizza on-the-go.
