Low Calorie meal

  Have your cake and eat it too
This one’s sure to be a treat not just for your tastebuds, but your eyes too. Starting this weekend, JW Marriott Sahar will host a cake exhibition showcasing 50 customised cakes.


Led by Chef Santosh Rawat, the hotel’s executive pastry chef, the team has created cakes on different themes including casino, beaches, swimming pool, Bollywood, Hollywood, cheese and book cake, baseball, car themed cake, fashion themed cake, painting set cake and traditional wedding cakes too.

You can even opt to order these cakes in different flavours like Crunchy Hazelnut Almond Marzipan, Toffee Coffee, Red Velvet, Chocolate Truffle and Dry fruit cake. Along with these exhibits, a life-size replica of a chandelier that adorns the lobby of the hotel will also be on display, completely made from chocolate!

A week-long affair
From Celini at Grand Hyatt to Dakshin Coastal at ITC Maratha and even San-Qi, Four Seasons, enjoy a luxury dining experience at one of the 27 participating restaurants, thanks to the ongoing Citibank Restaurant Week India.

Also held simultaneously at Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata, the restaurant week goes on till September 20. While previously the week offered three-course prix fixe menus, to celebrate their fifth anniversary, the city restaurants will offer five-course prix fixe menu (with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options) at '1,100 for lunch and '1,300 for dinner.

The four new restaurants participating in this edition include Kebab Korner (Intercontinental), Olio (Novotel), Royal China and Red Zen (Courtyard Mumbai).

Keep a calorie count
Keen to keep a check on your calories but not sure how? Sign up for Soul Care’s (founded in 2012) new tiffin service that offers different calorie-specific meal plans, delivered at your doorstep. Each meal plan is available on monthly subscription and a 10-day trial basis.

Mridula Agarwal (founder and CEO, Soul Care Hospitality and Wellness Pvt Ltd), who has a Bachelors degree in Applied Sciences in Food Technology and designs the menu, informs, “I design the menu keeping in mind the season and the availability of vegetables, plan type for which meal is to be designed (for instance, diet plan also caters to diabetics) as well as specific exclusions and inclusions that need to be maintained. All our meals are less oily and less spicy. Our chefs are trained to not to use heavy cream, butter or ghee. The meals are packed in pre-calibrated cups and provide the tagged calories within +/- 100 Cal range.”

Olive comes to the 'burbs
After opening Olive Bistro in Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Pune and at Mumbai’s T2 International Airport, restaurateur AD Singh is set to unveil the latest outpost at Goregaon’s Oberoi Mall, today.

The quaint yet chic-looking all-day bistro offers a range of dishes, starting from Rs 120 (Eggs Florentine) all the way up to '750 (Roasted Australian Lamb Chops).

Enjoy breakfast options, salads, soups, appetisers, a variety of sandwiches and burgers like the Pulled Pork Sandwich and OB Hot Dog, woodfired oven pizzas (made in a food truck  within the bistro), hand rolled pastas and main course selections like the Smoked Reshampatti Chilli or the Overnight Braised Chicken Leg. Relish your meal while listening to tunes playing from a bonafide jukebox.
