What if you are looking for a space where your children can do all their indoor playing and get their fill of outdoor activity too? And what if you want to throw in a bit of art and perhaps, gymnastics? What if all of this and more is under one roof?

Kids Club at Kamala Global Academics is a one-stop spot for anything and everything to do with kids’ activities. Here, the number of options available is baffling. So, yes, I walk in with both my kids, looking to explore an area called Playscape, but at the counter, I find that my research is flawed. Playscape — a studio that offers an indoor playground — is really for kids aged six months to seven years. But before we can turn back, crestfallen, we are told that, perhaps, we could see if the kids would like to check out Toyscape and Artscape.
So, we saunter into Toyscape, where we browse through a stack of toys and board games. Ammol, my nine-year-old, pulls out a chessboard, and I tell him to try something else. A staffer suggests a game of Cluedo, and the next time I pop my head inside Toyscape, both my kids are absorbed in separate board games and don’t look up. But I’ve fallen in love with Artscape and my 11-year-old daughter, Vani must not miss out. This tiny art and craft studio is a place you can walk into, pick an art project — it can be anything from making a tray, a bouquet of roses or candlesticks — and work with the paraphernalia given to you as part of the cost. You don’t pay to enter Artscape; you pay per project. And your child can work all day if he chooses to, or return day after day — at no cost — until he completes the chosen project.
Kids Club, run by Aditi Shah and her cheerful team of women, has simply too much to do. In the 16,000-sqft of space, the activities vary from gymnastics to music (guitar, drums and its fantastic musical bonding programme), dance (Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Hip-hop, ballet, even garba workshops), language classes, sports and physical fitness, and no-flame cooking workshops. All you need to do is walk in and inform the team about your child’s preferences and age, and you will be offered recommendations to make your choice.
Seema, a doctor, walks in with two daughters, 11 and five. One walks into Playscape while the other explores Artscape. When the five-year-old finishes her playtime, she heads to Artscape and joins in making blue paper roses with her sister and Vani. We mothers watch. Perfect.
