Pollard scores 33 off 13, later claims 3 for 17 as they beat Bangalore by 35 runs in the semi-finals

An all-round performance from Mumbai Indians helped them enter the final of the Indian Premier League after they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Bangalore were never in the hunt for the final spot. Right from the first over, it looked as if they had given up. There was no serious effort in chasing the formidable total of 184.

After his blitzkreig innings of 33 runs in 13 balls, Kieron Pollard scalped three Bangalore wickets to claim the man-of-the-match award.

Earlier in the day, Saurabh Tiwary struck a breezy unbeaten 31-ball 52 while Kieron Pollard used his long handle to telling effect to guide Mumbai Indians to a challenging 184 for five in the IPL semifinal against Royal Challengers Bangalore here today.

Electing to bat, Mumbai lost in-form skipper Sachin Tendulkar (9) and other opener Shikhar Dhawan (12) cheaply but they recovered splendidly thanks to some sensible batting by Tiwary and Ambati Rayudu (40 in 38 balls) and through some big hitting by Pollard to post a challenging total at the DY Patil Stadium.

Abhishek Nayar (22) and Rayudu first steadied the innings and then the latter put on 67 runs in 49 balls with Tiwary for the fourth wicket to take Mumbai close to the 150 mark in the 18th over.
