The case was first registered by the local Malwani police, who then transferred it to the Borivli police. According to the police, the 19-year-old survivor, her 23-year-old husband, his elder sister, and her husband stayed together in an apartment in Borivli.
The survivor got married to her interior designer husband in 2013 and the two couples had been staying together in the same house since then. The accused, a 30-year-old, had allegedly been trying to get close to the young woman since day one and had, on many occasions, attempted to harass and molest her.
The incident occurred in the beginning of this month, when the accused waited outside the survivor’s workplace a private firm in Borivli and suggested to her that the two go home together. As the duo hailed an auto rickshaw, the accused offered to the woman a bottle of water.
This water had allegedly been spiked with an intoxicant, according to the police, and the woman soon began to lose consciousness. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused told the auto rickshaw driver to proceed towards Aksa beach.
There, he checked into a lodge near the beach and raped her. Police said he then called up the survivor’s husband and told him his wife had been having an extra-marital affair with him and was presently with him at Aksa beach. The accused then fled from the room, leaving the unconscious woman behind.
