Mumbai Metro III: Talks between officials and SoBo residents fail

The talks between Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) officials and the residents of south Mumbai's Chira Bazar, Girgaon and Grant Road, who will be affected due to Metro-III project, failed on Monday. The project-affected people have now decided to observe a bandh on March 18.

Speaking to mid-day, the conveyor of 'Chira Bazar, Girgaon, Grant Road Rahivasi Bachao Kruti Samiti' said ," We the residents of the area had a meeting with the MMRC officials on Monday but until and unless the MMRC promises us proper rehabilitation and bigger houses we won't agree to the deal. Today, the talks failed as we were not satisfied with the discussion."

The residents have demanded that the stations from the area be shifted. Around 650 families will be affected due to the Metro-III project.
