Mumbaikars have a reason to smile as they may be able to travel by metro in a week's time or maybe even less

Mumbai Metro likely to start in a week's time

Mumbai's much-harried commuters can look forward to travelling in air-conditioned comfort very soon with the Metro likely to be become operational in a week's time.


Speaking to mid day, Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) CEO Abhay Mishra said,"The 11.04 km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro line will be operational for public within seven days or earlier."


Sources from MMRDA told this newspaper that the line could also be thrown open for the public on coming Sunday.


If the sources are to believed then the issue of what will be the metro fares has also been sorted out between MMOPL and MMRDA and the fares are expected to be minimum of Rs 10 and Maximum of Rs 40.
