Mumbai Metro to launch cleanliness drive on October 2

On the occasion of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) has announced the launch of “Metro Swachha Abhiyan” under the ‘Swachha Bharat Mission” from Thursday

On the occasion of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) has announced the launch of “Metro Swachha Abhiyan” under the ‘Swachha Bharat Mission” from Thursday to work towards enhanced cleanliness of all its stations, depot and nearby surroundings.


According to a press statement issued by MMOPL, "During this drive, Mumbai Metro One will carry out an intensified drive to clean its station entry areas, approach pavements, staircases, lift and immediate precincts. This will be done with the support of its employees, contractors, housekeeping agencies, commuters and other volunteers."


The statement further says, "'Metro Swachha Abhiyan' will start from 5 metro stations – Versova, D N Nagar, Airport Road, Marol Naka and Ghatkopar – and on progressive basis cover three stations every week. Mumbai Metro has also collaborated with National Service Scheme (NSS), to generatecleanliness awareness around VAG corridor."


Commenting on the campaign, Mumbai Metro One spokesperson said, “Mumbai metro intends to upkeep and maintain metro system clean and hygienic at par with international standards in collaboration with its stakeholders and partners.”

“Metro Swachha Senani” teams comprising of volunteer from MMOPL, NSS, commuters andlocal inhabitants will be responsible for the cleanliness of metro stations.
