On Friday, Macchindra Shivmore, 25, a Latur-based truck driver, arrived at Antop Hill around 10.45 pm to deliver a consignment, police said. He decided to have dinner at a small restaurant nearby. When he ordered chicken and rice, the hotel owner, 65-year-old Mahadev Pavaskar, told him there was only chicken soup but without chicken, available at that hour.
Shivmore initially didn’t say anything, but when he was served, he saw there was indeed no chicken in the soup. When he asked Pavaskar, he was told that he had already been informed before placing the order. Shivmore then picked up an iron rod lying nearby and thrashed Pavaskar. When the latter’s 69-year-old brother, Shivaji, intervened, Shivmore attacked him, too.
While Shivaji sustained minor injuries, Mahadev has been admitted to Sion hospital. Speaking to mid-day, an officer from Antop Hill police station said, “We have arrested Shivmore and he has been charged with attempt to murder.”
